The loss of biodiversity is a global phenomenon, affecting both biological and cultural diversity. No area in the world is spared, not even countries as wide and as rich in biodiversity as Brazil.
The activists of Slow Food Brazil have been protecting and promoting this heritage for over 20 years in order to avoid its disappearance. Thanks to the project “Defense of the socio-biodiversity and food culture in Bahia”, the local network was able to record 50 traditional dishes in the Ark of Taste to represent the food heritage of the Bahian area and its communities, through participatory mapping activities, exchanges and a regional training program..
During this event, we will discover the communities that manufacture good, clean and fair food in the semi-arid region of Sertão in Bahia.
The project “Defense of the socio-biodiversity and food culture in Bahia” by Slow Food Brazil is the result of a partnership with the Pró-Semiárido project, managed by the Regional Development and Action Company related to the Rural Development Secretariat (Car/Sdr), and backed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
