The Mediterranean Sea is one of the main migration routes connecting the African continent to Europe.
For too many years now, these waters have witnessed a humanitarian crisis that seems to have no end. Slow Food supports those who supervise this route everyday to help those in need.
Our association has showed our support to one organization in particular – SOS Mediteranee: we provided them with a huge supply of rice coming from Vercelli (Slow Food Presidium), which was boarded on the Ocean Viking in August.
In this panel farmers and migrants, who both have to face the severe consequences of the climate crisis, will tell their experiences. This act of solidarity was also captured through a photography project that will be shown during the event.
Speakers:
- Massimo Gnone, UNHCR Integration Associate
- Maurizio Tabacchi, Slow Food Presidium rice producer from Vercelli.
- Elisabetta Pontello, Director General SOS Mediterranean.
- Barbara Nappini, President of Slow Food Italy.
- Abdullahi Ahmed, city councillor of the city of Turin.

- Abderrahmane Amajou, Slow Food Italia.
