“Prosperity through coffee for small farmers in Yemen” is the title of the two-year 2020-2021 project, born from the collaboration between the Lavazza Foundation and the Qima Foundation.

The key players of this project will present their objectives, challenges and achievements, which will highlight the positive role and the real impact that growing and producing coffee can have to prevent conflicts, to create livelihood and to achieve prosperity. The second step of the project, which will be presented during the meeting, has already reached over one thousand beneficiaries: the focus is still on specialty coffee, and the goal is to create a large-scale development program in one of the areas most severely hit by the Yemen conflict, the Taiz region.

Speakers:

Mario Cerutti, chief Institutional Relations & Sustainability Officer del Gruppo Lavazza e Segretario della Fondazione Lavazza.

Faris Sheibani, founder e Ceo Quima Coffee and Quima Foundation.

Moderator:

  • Laura Silvia Battaglia al-Jalal, freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker, has been working as a reporter in crisis areas since 2007 and is a presenter and author for Rai Radio 3. She specialises in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Iraq and Yemen.
