Permaculture is a design system for creating sustainable human settlements. Systems designed in this way generate farms that are resistant, resilient and in balance with the ecosystem.
This multidisciplinary and systemic approach intertwines principles of architecture, ecology, forestry, agriculture and livestock together with the use of appropriate technologies and digital mapping tools.
The workshops, which focus on the management of pastures and water, illustrate the design phases of two national farms: the Podere dei Bianchi Galli, which breed Cornigliese sheep (Slow Food Presidium) in the Parma Apennines and the Tenuta di Paganico which raises Maremma cows in the Grosseto area (Slow Food Presidium).
