In the heart of the Amazon rainforest in Peru, Fondazione Lavazza is committed to the reforestation the area thanks to a project in partnership with the Ministry of Environment in Peru, the local indigenous tribes and Cesvi.
The project has two main objectives: to safeguard the already-existing rainforest with the direct aid of the indigenous communities, making them the “guardians of the forest”, and to plant new trees in more run-down areas. The project also holds a strong social value: it promotes the manufacturing and marketing of local natural products – such as the Brazilian nut – and the planting of fruit trees, which represent both a source of food for the communities themselves and a chance for revenues.
