What is the state of our fishery resources? What are the demands of the fisherfolk and shellfish gatherers of the mangroves, seas and riverbanks? What is happening to the food sovereignty of local communities? What does socio-ecological regeneration mean?
These are some of the guiding questions participants will try to answer during the event, thus contributing to the creation of the Slow Food concept of regeneration. There will also be a screening of the teaser of the documentary “Mangrove life and the struggle of nature and its people”, followed by a conversation with the film director, Pocho Álvarez.
From July 23 to 26, 2022, delegates from Coordinadora Nacional para la Defensa del Ecosistema Manglar (C-CONDEM), from Sindicato de Rama de Trabajadores/as Autónomos de los Ecosistemas de Territorios Marino Costeros of Ecuador, from Alianza Latino Americana por los Territorios Marino Costeros frente al Cambio Climático (ALMACC) and the Slow Fish network, will meet in Hotel Los Balcones de Mompiche (Muisne, Ecuador) to reflect the regeneration of life in coastal marine territories as well as the right to the territory, right to work and right to food.
The event is organized by C-Condem and Slow Food.
This event is part of The Road to Terra Madre, a series of initiatives organized by the Slow Food network around the world to pave the way towards the international gathering which takes place in Parco Dora, Turin, Italy, from September 22-26, where participants will design the future of food, agriculture and the planet together. #TerraMadre2022
