IN THIS REPURPOSED SHIPPING CONTAINER, WE WILL BE PHYSICALLY AND DIGITALLY CONNECTING SLOW FOOD COMMUNITIES, ACTIVISTS AND SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, AND SHARING HOW WE CAN RESPOND TO THE WORLD’S MOST PRESSING CHALLENGES THROUGH REGENERATIVE ACTIONS.

10:30-11:15 – Terra Madre Portal Opening 

Edie Mukiibi, Carlo Petrini and Marta Messa introduce #RegenerAction. Moderator: Jeff Israely, journalist, founder and editor at Worldcrunch

 

11:30-12:15 – Meet Edie Mukiibi, new president of Slow Food

Edie walks us through the Portal all the way to his homeland, Uganda. We will meet Opportunigee, a Nakivale based non-profit organization where young refugees are creating their own opportunities after discovering their passion. Edie will share his story and passion as a farmer, social entrepreneur and new president of Slow Food with Ugandese children who will meet one of their national heroes.

 

14:00-16:00 – Pop Regen Talk: how can social media help restore civil societies?

Meet Terra Madre 2022’s Digital Facilitators! They are some of the world’s most impactful figures on social media creating and sharing at the cross roads of environmental activism, food justice and culture shift. Together with their millions of followers, we will discover how their content creates a very powerful connection between digital communication, environmental action and regenerative ecological practices. They are here with us in Turin reporting on Terra Madre’s exciting program and we are thrilled to introduce you to them all! Our guests include: Naomi Glasses (@naiomiglasses), Bela gil (@belagil), Patrick Vernuccio (@thefrenchiegardener)

 

18:30-19:30 – Protein transition, public procurement & the power of edible education 

School Supported Agriculture, Meatless Mondays and Plant-Powered Fridays: how “good food revolutions” are planting their seed in city hall procurement offices on both sides of the Atlantic. Can these strategies nourish our children, change behavior, and regenerate regional economies? This session will be bringing together: Richard McCarthy, Alice Waters, Peggy New (Grace Foundation), Andrea Magarini (Milan Urban Food Policy Pact), Kate MacKenzie (Executive Director, NYC Mayor’s Office of Food Policy), Maggie Baird (Support and Feed Foundation), Carlotta Salerno (City of Turin)
