This network originates in the water and in the biodiversity of microscopic plankton that produces two-thirds of the oxygen we breathe and is the basis of aquatic life. It continues in river flows and ocean currents, in kelp forests, seagrass meadows and coral reefs, where fish hide their eggs that will later feed us. And this network is safeguarded through the management of all these resources by coastal, lake and river communities around the world, through transport and trade, until it reaches our plates.Today, a society that actively focuses on promoting individuals, commodities and property, while favoring disconnection, is breaking these bonds, which not only tie human beings to each other, but also define our relationship with the ecosystems around us, including what we cannot see or understand.
In this edition of Terra Madre, the Slow Fish network proposes a regenerative journey. Through the various activities in which the Slow Fish network will be involved, we will learn to recognize the value of these links that were once taken for granted, train our eyes and minds to see what is invisible and bring it to the surface of our consciousness and into our lives.
