The Department of Agriculture, Rural and Environmental Development of the Puglia Region deals with regional policies relating to agriculture, animal husbandry, fishing, hunting and aquaculture activities, promoting the development of infrastructures for agriculture, providing planning and management Community funds for agricultural and rural development and takes care of the protection of the quality and health standards of Apulian agri-food production.
Through its numerous activities, the Department also promotes the message of correct and healthy eating through the communication and involvement of consumers, teachers, students, health professionals and those who are protagonists of food choices. The Department promotes the territory, by supporting activities carried out in the territory and connected to food and wine tourism.
Finally, the Puglia Region supports environmental, economic and social innovation and development actions in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, in an integrated perspective with the aim of:
- safeguard, rational use and biological rebalancing of aquatic ecosystems;
- promoting socio-economic development and modernization of fisheries and aquaculture;
- enhance the quality and food safety of fish products and their supply chain;
- support scientific research and field experimentation.
